40 phenomenal runners took to the streets this past weekend on behalf of SHLF to raise a total of over $8,000 for youth who need it most.
As one of the official charities of the 2013 Scotiabank Calgary Marathon, participants were encouraged to run 5km, 10km, half or full marathons and conduct fundraising activities. 40 amazing community members stepped to the plate and truly Made a Difference! From a brand new Mom to a first time half marathoner - Kevin Dalby who completed it in an impressive time of 1:38, to Michael Spencer and Mandy Moran who both completed their first 10km races in under 50 minutes the group represented a fantastic cross-section of community members committed to Making a Difference.
As always, SHLF is sincerely grateful to all volunteers for everything they do and are proud to report another successful fundraising endeavour! As always, we are 100% volunteer-run and pledge to keep our promise of honouring all contributions by ensuring they Make a Difference in the lives of youth who need it most. Thank you Calgary!
Students from the Captain Nichola Goddard School and coach Fraser Morden ran the 45 km.
