October 4, 2012 (North Vancouver, BC) – On October 14th, the Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation (SHLF) will hold its 6th Annual 5K/10K Run at Handsworth Secondary in North Vancouver. This Run has attracted close to 2,000 participants over the past 6 years, and helped the Foundation raise over $75,000 for partner organizations that help local at-risk youth achieve their full potential through sport and education.

This year, CTV Weathercaster Marke Driesschen will be the celebrity emcee for the Run. CTV has been involved with SHLF in the past, but this is the first year that the network will take on the role of exclusive television sponsor for the Run. “We are thrilled to strengthen the Foundation’s relationship with CTV,” said Aimee-Noel Hartley, SHLF Founder. “There is a strong connection already with Blythe Hartley having been a commentator for CTV during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. We are excited to continue working together and to have Mr. Driesschen help us get the word out there and make this our biggest race yet.”

The scenic 5K and 10K routes wind their way over roads and trails through the Capilano-Highlands neighbourhood and finish on the track at Handsworth Secondary School in North Vancouver. The 10K route takes runners to the upper reaches of Mosquito Creek, making this one of the more challenging 10K races in the Lower Mainland. All the funds raised through this event will be donated directly to Streetfront alternative education program and the Take a Hike foundation.
