McGill Football presents 2nd Annual
Dr Strachan Hartley Memorial Trophy
In March 2009, McGill fooball player Charles-Antoine Sinotte was presented with the Annual Dr. Strachan Hartley Memorial Trophy. The award, created by McGill University Athletics, is presented annually to the McGill Redmen football player best demonstrating athletic ability, academic excellence and leadership on the field and in community activity.
Sinotte, a 3rd year physical education major and wide receiver from Trois-Rivieres, Que established school and conference single-game records for most catches in a game (18) and posted another McGill record for most yards in a game (238). He was the 2008 recipient of the McGill athlete of the year and in May was one of 44 players in Eastern Canada to play in the 2009 East-West Bowl, which showcases CIS players who will be eligible for the CFL draft. In 2010 he hopes to enter the CFL Draft and secure a roster spot as an inside receiver. He arrived in Montréal three years ago speaking only minimal English and has managed to become fluent in the language, succeed in the classroom and is recognized as a vocal leader and captain among his teammates. As a physical education student, Charles-Antoine participates regularly in community-based events that encourage youth in Montréal to participate in sports and education.
We are proud to recognize Charles-Antoine Sinotte as the second outstanding recipient of the Dr. Strachan Hartley Memorial Trophy and look forward to following his many pursuits in the future. 2008 winner Alex Bussandri graduated from McGill last year, is currently working in Montréal as a successful proprieties trader and actively participates as a valued member of the Montréal SHLF Committee.
