WHAT PAST SHLF RUNNERS HAVE TO SAY:

I just wanted to send a quick note to say "thanks" for a great event yesterday. I ran the 10K and really enjoyed the whole thing. I only decided to register for the run on the previous day (when I saw one of the posters at the William Griffin Pool) but I'm glad I did. The whole morning had a great feeling of "community" - which is exactly what I was looking for. We are blessed with such an amazing quality of life (and quality of people) in North Van - and yesterday's event was just more proof of that.

I also want to commend the Foundation for supporting such outstanding programs. I listened in on the speeches that took place before the run - and was so impressed and moved by what these programs are trying to achieve for young people. Good on all of you. You should all be proud of the legacy that that was started by Strachan, and continued by all those involved. Although I didn't know Strachan, I know that he would be very, very proud of this event.

Regards,
Rob

PS: That was BY FAR the TOUGHEST 10K I have ever run...and I've run plenty. Whoever designed the course should be both commended and flogged. :-

Your event was fantastic – I love tough 10 Ks and this one DEFINITELY did not disappoint!  I am certain that Strachan would be proud if he saw what you have been able to do!  It was a an honour to take part on the 18th and I plan to be back next year.

Walter

Thanks...that was a great run. An example of how all your group's efforts have hit home: my daughter is a 'shy kid' and being exposed to a family, non-threatening event was a great introduction to something new. She said "Dad, I want to do a run like this every weekend."

Although I could have taken her to any run, I took her to this one...and it was the right one with the right feel all around. With kids, it's about introducing all the things in the right setting at the right time, and hopefully inspiring them. For us as parents, I think it is inspiring our kids to do anything healthy and physical, and anything they are surely having fun at – first and foremost. And she really had fun. There was a lot of great people around, all very friendly folks. And I know, a lot of people that you know very well personally.

Anyway, this was a memorable Sunday for us...and your old pal Strachan had a hand in this with his legacy and it impacted our family directly. All great stuff and another reason to keep going with all your volunteer efforts. Thanks for inviting us once again.

Cheers,
Dean
